Congratulations Q, on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop instrument (serial number CS 3007)! We will post pictures of it's construction-in-progress from time to time here in this thread. For the curious, here are the specs on CS 3007: Custom “KL-STYLE” Explorer Construction Method: Neck-thru, any solid body with flat top (bookmatch-to-center) Material for neck: Mahogany + Bubinga Neck features: Standard (with straight or angled headstock) Material for fretboard: Rosewood with 12 inch fretboard radius (darkest possible rosewood) Frets: Sintoms "6100" (medium tall, AKA "Jumbo") 22 FRETS Nut: Graph-tech Fret markers: Custom Design in white MOP, spanning 7 or 8 frets (client will supply artwork) Fretboard binding: unbound fretboard Truss rod cover: multi-ply (rosewood - ebony- rosewood) Side markers: blue LED/fiber-optic side dots w/ contrasting wood bezel Logo: Large MOP Monogram Figure (like KL-exp – client will supply artwork) Body wood: African Mahogany (light weight) Top wood: Bubinga Back wood: No decorative back Body binding: Without binding Finish: Oil finish / Wax coating Headstock Overlay: complex shape w/ wood overlay (like KL-exp) Tone Chambers: no tone chambers (solidbody) Scale Length: 24.75 inches Strings: Ernie Ball .010 - .046 roundwound – STANDARD TUNING ( EADGBE ) Machine heads: Sperzel (locking) satin black Bridge: Gotoh tune-o-matic set (black or gold) Strap buttons: straplocks (2 pieces) Black Dunlop Neck pickup: EMG 60 Bridge Pickup: EMG 81 Pickup Bezels: Plastic bezel 2 pcs Toggle switch: DiMarzio (switchcraft) 3-pos. Nope i havn't had any problems nor did i have to pay taxes on any of my 2 shamrays. Both guitars did take only 3 days to arrive at my home after they got shipped. Nice guitar btw! |

Very nice pictures. I am glad to see your guitar is going well. I have yet to recieve my first pictures, but from what I hear, the first batch of pictures turns you into a Shamray addict! Yeah, Matt, the first batch is like a drug man it keeps you craving for more. Well as far as the artwork concerned, I got my inspiration from the CS-0050 Rixplorer. At first I was clueless about what I wanted on the fretboard, so I thought I'd give the leaf and vine a try. After some surfing around here I discovered the Rixplorer and was very impressed by tribal inlays. Soon after that I began to design my own tribal and this is what came out

My thoughts exactly, I looooove the wood texture and grain. The guitar has exceeded my expectations in every which way as well as the service from Shamray Inc. They really build the guitars of your dreams, checking every detail with the customer. Props to e-ve-ry-body. Awesome news, Michael has just updated me on the status and told me the guitar is almost finished and ready for playtesting on MONDAY!!! And depending on how fast the laser dudes (for my inscription) are Shamray expects the guitar shipped no later than October 17th, this is awesome news. I'm so excited about hearing what michael has to say about the feel and sound of the guitar. :d |

Great news, the control cavity cover has arrived and it looks SPLENDID. Since CS-3007 is completed it's scheduled for a playtest, tweaking and final inspection on mondag, meaning if Michael is satisfied with the guitar overall, it's gonna be shipped on tuesday or wednesday

I'm pretty sure it will be on display. It has to hang for a couple of days anyway (to let the neck settle in under string tension before we do the final setup) so it might as well hang where several thousand people can appreciate it. BTW, the audience for the show is kept back about a meter (behind a rail) so nobody can actually touch any of the guitars on display. We do have a few "player" guitars on hand if someone wants to try one, but all the 'show' guitars are off-limits to the public... If i get a chance to visit the show (tommorrow or Sunday, maybe) then I will take some pics of this year's booth |

Michael, I was wondering if there are any guidelines concerning care and cleaning of the guitar? I don't know if oil and waxing requires special care of some kind or the usual dust-off and cleaning will do. Since this one is such a beauty I was planning on keeping her that way

Basically, its just dusting off for the most part. Over time, the polish will need renewing, and its best done by rubbing in a little "Warwick wax" (AKA 'Warwick Surface Finisher') every month or two (BTW, its really just pure beeswax!) see http://www.warwickbass.com/misc/wax.html After a few YEARS, you might want to clean and refresh the whole finish by applying a commercial "Oil/Wax" finish. Any brand which is a blend of Tung Oil, boiled Linseed oil, and Beeswax will work fine! This takes about a day to do (sploshing on, wiping, rubbing in) and is quite a messy job By the way, be sure you wash your hands before playing or handling the instrument!! An oil finish is much more subsceptible to getting DIRTY, and if your instrument gets played a lot with grubby hands, in a few years you might find you need to lightly SAND it (with 500 grit paper) to get all the dirt out! (and after that, apply the oil/wax finish again...) |

actually you CANT track the number - it will show up at yor house long before it ever gets into your local tracking database (thats just the way EMS works - the packages go faster than the paperwork for some reason) you can TRY to check your local EMS tracking website (post office tracking page) - but in the last hundred shipments NOBODY has ever seen it online until AFTER it arrived! you can also punch the number into the "ÎÒÑËÅÆÈÂÀÍÈÅ:" space on the front page of http://garantpost.ru - but that doesnt track it any further than the RUSSIAN border... |

Thanks Michael, for being such a great help. Well I found out about TNTPOST too just like you did and the main problem is that they use different formats for tracking, they work by the 'barcode' system, also 13 digits but not similar to the ones EMS is using. Also, it seems, that they only have the trackingservice available if YOU are the one sending te package, so, just outgoing packages and not inbound packages. Well I've just emailed them about this whole issue and they're gonna email me back ASAP. Well, in the meantime, I guess waiting is all we can do

If TNTPOST arent helpful via EMAIL, then I'd suggest you try to TELEPHONE them... they are the ones who are actually responsible for delivering all EMS shipments in the Netherlands! | |

well, Shamray managed to find out what FLIGHT it went out on... '555-CBV 7055 2473', November 2nd (an SU-257 cargo plane, to be exact!) I think thats about as far as we can track it from here... |

Status Update: We'll I've called TNT-post, they did NOT have the tracking number in their system so they did never recieve it. Then they gave me a different phone number of the department that recieves all the packages. This department has also NOT recieved the package and gave me another phone number to the TNT main office. Those guys did not even know what I was talking about and gave me another number, the direct number to EMS. They won't answer the phone right now so I'm gonna try and get ahold of them. Damn bureaucracy:( |

Shamray told me an hour ago that Garantpost is doing some more digging for us on their end... maybe they can be of some assistance tommorrow. All they can tell us for SURE is that its in The Netherlands somewhere!

Well, that's one thing we don't have to worry about anymore The eagle has landed at least. I'm trying to get ahold of the EMS service here but they're not answering the phone so that's not a lot of help at the moment. I hope Garantpost can clarify some things since they're the ones with contracts with the local services. Also, very peculiar that TNTPOST doesn't have anything on the package. Well, we'll keep trying and I hope garantpost can be of any assistance soon. |

ok, update. I've tried all phone numbers of the EMS services here and there's no trace of my package to be found. They say as soon as the plane has landed and the package has been unloaded the next step is scanning of the package. Then the russian tracking number is transformed into a new tracking number which will be traceable. The problem is however. The package has never been scanned, meaning it's not in the Netherlands and even they cannot tell me where it is. They assured me that there is no way that IF the package has touched the ground it could be missed and therefor not scanned. So, according to the EMS service here, the package is NOT in the Netherlands. And they advised me to contact the sender to start an investigation. | |

Thanks guys, I think it's really professional that you are so quick on top of things. I've dealt with several companies in the past who, in this situation, said to me 'we shipped so the responsibility is now yours' and a long process of trials followed. Garantpost assured us that the package is delayed by customs and there's nothing to worry about. But if so, it's taking customs a hell of a long time to clear the package, it's been almost 3 weeks already:(. | |

Ok guys, here's an update. First of all I'd like to thank Shamray Inc. for the great support they've offered me all along the process. From the start to the rougher end . Michael has always been a great help to me, no matter what problems I had or what questions I had. He was always available for inquiry. Mr Shamray, thank you for the help on the tracking of the guitar and the investigation. They have not given any details about the delay or whatsoever, I did not sign for the guitar myself but my dear roommate did so I did not have the change to ask for myself. Dudnik; what can I say...You've built me an awesome guitar, just awesome. The first time I picked this baby up, it just felt right and from the moment I plugged it into my amp (Marshall VS265) it felt like this baby was built to rock. As Michael said before, this guitar is super reactive, very clear on the cleans and grinding dirty on the distortion. Great sustain, and tone. When I press the body agains my hip, I can feel the guitar resonating through my body, imagine that:) Great finish on the guitar, and an awesome show of craftsmanship. All the people who've seen the guitar were in awe. A couple even came over, just to have a glimpse of the guitar. That must be a great compliment for Shamray Inc. I love playing on this guitar, it just feels right. I have an ESP truckster that was my main guitar but now, this baby has taken that position. I'll post some pics and maybe some footage soon.
