Congratulations Jon on the birth of your FOURTH Shamray Custom Shop instrument (serial number CS 1952)! We will post pictures of it's construction-in-progress from time to time here in this thread. IF you decide on the 2-pickup version (rather than the Esquire), please let me know ASAP. I gave the workorder and Swamp Ash to Maxim today, and he's gonna get going on it very shortly... It wouldnt hurt to get all the parts out to us pretty quick, as well!

In theory (with crossed fingers and so on..) a 1 pickup esquire should be routed for a neck pickup...the old ones were at least. | |

not so odd - STANDARDIZATION! Thats why its not uncommon to find a sunburst finish under an old "custom-color" Fender - they just made up heaps of bodies in advance, and refinished as neccessary... |

Just my 2 cents As said the oldies where routed for all PU´s. But this is your customguitar Jon And to my 2 cents. Why not keep the wood in just that area that transfers vibrations and not rout for the neck PU? I have no scientific explanation to that theory at all, but it feels good

Thats a thought. I may just go for 2 pickups though, I have an esquire arriving this week. Maybe I should have a play with it and see if I like the 1 pickup wiring before any decisions are made... | |

It had the first sealer coat a week ago and I've only just finalised the finish colour so I doubt it has gone any further since then. All the construction work is done...I think. | |

Yes, it just looks "all wrong" doesnt it? I'm actually toying with the idea of getting a simple little lefty guitar made. I rather enjoy playing a lefty guitar "upside-down-and-backwards" ... i do this now and then when visiting my lefty friends, and after an hour or so my brain adapts, and I hardly notice the difference (though the fingering changes dramatically in some cases!) Its probably good exercise for the brain wiring circuits... |

Shamray was living out of town for three weeks (he lost his apartment here and had to move his family 200Km outside of moscow!) and this has played HAVOC with the shipping schdule (we have a backlog of 5 guitars now...) As of this weekend he has moved back to Moscow, and I hope he will do everything in his power to get back on schedule |
