Incidentally, CS-1973 will be joining CS-0045 in Patrick's Custom Shamray arsenal

Wait a minute Michael. Didn't u order your dobro before your korina futura guitar was finished or did u order them both at the same time?

Well... the Dobro was ordered a LONG while back (probably about the same time as the Futura), but anyway the Futura isnt my first Shamray, its my 5th and the Dobro is my 6th. (The upcoming Creation OV-12 will be my 7th...)
(And really, if you include my three ShamrayBass prototypes, then the Futura actually would be my EIGHTH Shamray instrument since i discovered the shop in 2002)

i can tell you that it hasnt been completed yet! unfortunately when we were getting set to complete this guitar, we discovered that we had received a LEFTY set of machine heads by mistake - so we are currently waiting for the proper 'righty' set to arrive ( I had to order them in from USA, none are available in Moscow at the moment...)

Yeah just a minor setback nothing to keep me from sleeping . It will all be ok in the end i have the proof in a SKB case under my bed .
And allthough the silverburst is my main weapon of destruction right now i have several other guitars so never a dull moment really

@ orpheo If you know what you want i assure you you wont go wrong at shamray. You wont have the bad luck of having a bad or average sounding piece of tonewood here simply coz wood like that wont be selected by the crafters. Now with productions guitars there is always woods like that that end up in some ( or lots ) of their guitars so basicly youd have to play lots to be sure you got a great sounding one. Which sucks coz you will find that the red strat sounds lots better then the black strat you actualy wanted to buy for instance... well thats my experience anyway! lol. Ad the love and cared and great craftmenship and all you have to know is the tone your after and youll get it.
To sum it all up , i like all of my guitars just none of them can match its tone and playability thats why i am eagerly awaiting cs1973 to "replace" my workhorse strat

They all sound absolutly awsome ! Position 4 ( neck mid ) is to die for. And i am very impressed with the bridge pups sound. I dont use it much on my Fender strat at all as it is to thin and to schrill sounding... I know i will now though.

a sound clip library is one of "several" features planned in the future. Right now, nobody has time to make it (least of all me!)
I'm planning a revamp of the quote maker VERY SOON that will support 7,8, & 12 string guitars, and add many more parts & features.
I'd still like to see an "FAQ", and also a new section with all of our crafters bios.
and finally, i want to do some kind of "global map" pinpointing the locations of all of our guitars around the world...

All of those ideas seem very good, especially the crafter bios. Maybe a virtual tour of the factory too, things like that would really sell the stuff. Humans love the human side of things from what I can tell. For instance, a few details about each crafter and maybe a pic is much better than just a name. Like you say thouh, its finding the time.

Right.... it was supposed to ship on the 6th I really dont see how it can get delayed for more then 2 weeks tbh. But i know you dont like it as much as I do so we'll not get upset and wait a little longer .

Yes, its the long building, we are located in THE BASEMENT (except for the paint shop, which is located in a nearby outbuilding).

30 minutes ago CS-1973 arrived at my home save and in perfect shape!! Ill tell some more tonight when i will let her meat my triamp To exited now to play shes in her case on the table ( open of course ) and i am just looking lol.

ok got 1 to work . Guitar looks great plays like a dream and sounds awsome. Ran into a lil problem ( probably grounding ) which i talked to michael about. Guitar might have had a bumb on its way home which has caused something to get loose by the looks of it. I have hum when i plug it into amp and its stops when i touch the strings , pops a little also. Anyway ill open her up on the weekend and will fix whatever has come loose with Michaels help
Oh btw fair is fair . CS-0045 Has the nicer smell !!!

isn't that hum (well, to a certain extent) normal? I always hear that when not touching the strings/bridge/etc, on every guitar I've touched (not many, unfortunately). IMO, that's normal..

lol no i dont think its shielding its way to loud for that and it makes electric pops when i touch the strings. if i am chording and keep my fingers on the strings you wont notice it.And one of the pots feels a bit wobbly so it probably got a bang somewhere on its way. Anyway i send Michael sound/video file and he agrees its not supposed to be like that. It will be fixed though cant be anything to big. Mind you its kinman loaded it should be almost silent.
Its a great player though i can allready tell and it has a LOT of TONE. The body resonates a lot more then my "real" alder strat and the it has a beautyfull unplugged sound which has a lot more volume then my Fender strat.

True Nimrod its probably something small just i am a technical noob !I could screw up changing a lightbulb . But Paul Selier (owner of 2 shamrays as well ) who lives close to me offerd me to help fix it which i gladly accepted. Its just a little set back coz i cant play it like would love to for a couple days but its a awsome guitar which as usual the pictures didnt do justice.

Me and Paul met this afternoon in The Hague. He was very kind to invite me over to his place to help me with the problem i had with a very bad hum on receiving CS-1973. We had a very nice afternoon specialy coz his bass had arrived the day before and i also got to see his Ventura guitar . Anyway when he opend up the guitar ( pickguard of ) a wire in there was loose because it was torn of by them middle tone pot which was able to move around and wasnt in its place solid. This was easely fixed by turning the pot tight to the pickguard en re-soldering the wire back to the pot. But the hum was still there so Paul gave the electronics a close inspection and found the cause real quick. The little metal connection thingies on the bottom of the pickup selector came in contact with the shielding paint in the control cavety. So what he did was bend them inwards a lil so they wouldnt touch it no more and also he put some tape inside the cavety the make sure the control couldnt touch the shielding paint no more. To cut a long story short ---> PROBLEM SOLVED ! . He did also notice the bridge wasnt in the correct possition. It was installed "locked" which is ok on its own but the tremblock was in such an angle it wasnt possible to renew strings through the tremcover. So he also made it to be a floating bridge for me. Took out 2 of the springs and put the other 3 in the V-shape and after some adjustments the bridge is now totaly straight and the trew works downwards but also a lil bit upwards. We also found the tbx control for blending not to be there but it was replaced with a push pull pot which i didnt even notice before simply because i didnt know it was being replaced by a push pull but np coz it works now and thats what matters. In the end Paul also taught me some very cool tricks for maintenance lol.
I played it for an hour over my tubeamp when i got home from my visit and with the problem solved i can now say it is an AWSOME guitar which i wouldnt trade for the world .... it really sounds that good !!
All in all it was visit worth while for more reasons then one. Many many thanks to Paul for helping me out !!!! And for a fun and educative afternoon ! Well meet again

Hmmm - the guitar would have taken a pretty substantial "hit' in shipping for a pot to be loose. Its strange, the TBX pot was there when i took it home for preliminary testing, so they must have removed it after i gave them the guitar back, reporting the mixer control wasnt working right.
I guess it was defective, and thats why they replaced it with a pull-pot. Unfortunately, i wasnt able to do FINAL inspection myself, as i was out of town the day before it shipped. I will look up the final inspection checklist on Monday and see who was responsible for the mandatory final inspection before it packed!

Big Thanks to Paul... I will talk to Shamray about sending a gift along with CS-0067

CS-1973 got her livedebut on WASSEPOP 2005 last night and she sounded awsome. !!! ( me on the right )
