Congratulations Matthias, on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop guitar (serial number CS 0047)!
We will post pictures of it's construction-in-progress from time to time here in this thread.

For the curious, here are the specs on CS 0047:

Detailed specification of Guitar:  CS-0047 ‘BROWNBURST’


Body: Mahagony, Hard Maple Top, Standard LP Shape (carved top and with ‘ESP Eclipse-like’ cutaway, exact body outline to be decided),
Solidbody, white top and bottom binding

Neck: Natural Hard Maple (with grain see through! - brown lacquered, matching lightest body finish brown), 
white binding, with headstock"veloute", bolt-on with a telecaster like metalplate (with best playability/sustain possible)

Headstock: Natural brown Hard Maple (like Neck - one piece),  totally black facing with white top binding

Headstock Logo: "to be decided”  –  with “Shamray Custom Shop” logo on BACK of headstock

Fretboard: Rosewood, (lightest available color)   with  white binding

Inlays: Standard white perloid dot inlays

Frets: 22 medium jumbo frets

Side markers: (black!) plastic dots

Nut: graph-tech (black) - matching d'addario "light top, heavy bottom" stringset for best tone stability possible

Scale: 24.75”

Truss-Rod-Cover: ESP Eclipse-like, black (white border, see picture)

Bridge : Tune-o-matic bridge with stop tailpiece, Tone Pros Locking Bridge System

Hardware: - Pots (2x volume, 2x tone - standard LP arrangement, vintage amber hat knobs)
- Complete EMG81 set harness
- 3-way toggleswitch (with creme Treble/Rhytmn plate, standard LP position)
- 9V Battery for EMG81 set

Machine Heads: chrome Gotoh SD90SL MGIII 3L/3R

Finish: Top/Back: Black Brownburst (see picture - with woodgrain see-through), Sides: black
It must be a true black (slightly grain see through) over a chestnut brown to a brown, see picture

+Standard EMG Output jack (side)
+100% Bodyshielding
+chrome strap locks
+stagg flight case

No Pickup bezels, No Pickups, No Machine Heads (will be added by customer after receiving)

 The pictures of the progress themselves  are worth any cent - it makes the instrument even more personnal and a unique remembrance. Honestly I cannot await the next steps, but take your time that the guitar will turn out perfect!

 I really appreciate this kind of "show". You should patent it Aleksandr :D - but not only the pictures but also the interaction and communication with the crafters is just great!
To comment on a later part of construction: As the sample picture shows it is necessary that the brownburst is more or less exact like on the picture - this is important for the visual contrast between the black PUs/bezels and the brown background. If the black burstoutline starts to early the PUs/bezels would "disappear" (visually) into the dark background. But hey - you got the sample - so I don't worry.

Maybe someday I'll order an acoustic guitar. But at the moment I'm looking forward to the LesPaul! I will add a picture of the guitar at its first live gig then - so the reality show may go on *g* especially when I'll add the EMG81 set which is not included in the order...

Well I see the work is making progress - can't await all the coming details. I'm curious if the brass sign is already price-quoted?!

I mean this square metal plate... is it possible to have deep-joint construction in combination with such a metal plate, or are deep-joints another construction type?
I mean with those deep-joint thing I think you can get the best sustain out of a bolt-on construction. But this metal plate looks better than just some screws...

 No! now just don't get me wrong. Maybe de picture was maybe a bit confusing.
1. I don't want a bi-bender system.
2. I meant the little square metal-plate which holds the neck and is part of the bolt-on construction.

I need a real answer to this ... is it possible to have such a metal plate (see picture above) in combination with a deep-joint construction - or are deep-joint bolt-on constructions just made with 4-6 single screws without such a plate?

1. Binding: LesPaul Custom (b/w) - if possible on the headstock too!
2. Don't forget the headstock veloute!
3. Please add black pickup bezels to the spec-list and the price-list.
4. Neck: thin layer of transparent/clear lacquer - buffed to have a close raw/satin wood feeling.
5. Any news about the brass sign?

 no news for a couple of days, Shamray just got back from holiday, Stepanov is away on holiday since middle of last week, and it will take a couple of days to sort out whats going on with all the guitars (summer holidays are madness around here...)

 Keep in mind that your guitar isnt slated for completion until SEPT 21st,  2004...

its just the natural ebb and flow of the shop.. work comes in fits and starts sometimes as the crafters rotate among the guitars they are working on. The fact that you are waiting with anticipation for every new progress report just injects an artifical urgency into the whole thing :)

By the way, today i saw the actual hardcopy color photographs (Kodak Calibrated Color Matching System) that were printed out from your files, so now the painter has something to use as a reference in the paint room. So probably the paint work will get underway very soon!

 It's not that I'm too impatient - but I'm not sure at the moment how reliable such dates like Shamray posted are. I mean the start of the painting was dated three times without any result. I can understand any suspension - but the facts are a bit untransparent at the moment - so that it is hard to retrace. Maybe I'm too spoiled regarding the first few weeks of progress *g* But well if I can relie on the fact that any progress and pictures will arrive when it happens, then I will teach myself in patience.

 Thanks. Actually the lasering took most of the time of the whole construction process *g* But I think in the end it will turn out really cool. Thanks to Michael for all the time he spent checking to the laser-shop!
