Congratulations Richard, on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop guitar (serial number CS 0037)! For the curious, here are the specs on CS 0037: Detailed specification of Guitar: CS-0037 ‘RISING-SUN’
Set-neck Soloist style w/’Phoenix Rising’ cutaways. 25.5” scale length, 24 frets.

SPEC UPDATE: substitute Chernishev custom hand-wound pickups for DiMarzios description - "like passive versions of the actives I normally use (EMG 60 for neck and EMG 81 in bridge), but with a few alterations. First of all, I would like them to have what I like to call the DiMarzio "sound". I don't know how to describe it, but DiMarzio pickups have a sound signature that is very pleasing to my ears. Second, I want them to sound good when the coils are split. Since I will be having a few split modes, they wouldn't be of any use if the pickups don't sound good when split. I want them to be wax potted also." |

Direct mount pickups (i.e. no pickups bezel) are nothing new, Eddie Van Halen started direct-mounting his pickups in the early eighties I think. Guitars with extended neck tenons and pickups mounted directly to the neck are quite new and being offered by some builders, but often at rediculous prices. | |

Nope, ingen brorsa. Har bara systrar. Hette personen i fråga Kjerstadius i efternamn så är han i alla släkt med mig på något sätt. Jo den riktigt fin ut, frågan är bara när jag får den. Har varit mycket problem med den röda färgen och det är inte över än tyvärr. Visst är det kul att titta och dregla över alla dessa vackra skapelser, men efter ett tag "måste" man beställa en själv =) |

I don't know really. I got the idea from looking at custom Jacksons. Both Jackson and Charvel have had rising sun graphics available on custom shop guitars since the 80s I think. The Charvel Journeyman is available with a rising sun graphic and Wayne Guitars (the "real" Charvels) also have it available on the Rock Legend guitar. | |

I like that guitar a lot, makes me think about 80's metal guitars indeed, but as a Jake E Lee fan I can tell you he never used a rising sun guitar, he's part american and part japanese but his favourite guitar was a white w/ black pickguard Fender/Charvel, he also had a purple and a blue charvel. He did popularized rising sun bandanas though... Richard, what kind of music do you play? |

I play... well 80's, thrash, speed etc. metal. Plus classical guitar (this is how I started out, so that's the direction I've come from), some blues and more. I try not to limit myself to one style and I want this guitar to be with me when playing all of these things, unlike for example my Jackson RR1 w/ EMGs. It just feels way too "metal" for me when I play say, "For the Love of God" by Steve Vai. | |

Yes, it WAS!!! My apologies, but unfortunately, we were not able to get it into completing before the shop closed for holidays. Stepanov will be back on the 11th, so he should be able to advise me shortly thereafter with an updated "production timeline" so i can tell you when we will get it completed and shipped. We shall need about 'a couple days to a week' for QA testing, so i would guess we shall finally get it shipped out around the third week of January | |
