Congratulations Gumshoe, on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop instrument (serial number CS 0025)! We will post pictures of it's construction-in-progress from time to time here in this thread. For the curious, here are the specs on CS 0025: Detailed specification of Guitar: CS-0025 ‘GUMSHOE-SLEUTH’
Body & neck: Mahogany body. “AA” flame maple top. 3-piece mahogany neck, (neck joint at 22nd fret). Fretboard: ROSEWOOD w/custom Mother of pearl fret markers (numbers!) . Binding: single ply white binding on fretboard, multi-layer around headstock. Hardware: chrome gotoh Tune-o-matic bridge, chrome SPERZEL locking machine heads. Electronics: Two volume and two tone, three-way switch, 3-way toggle switch (USA). Black toggle switch washer. 100% cavity shielding. 4 pull-pots: coil taps for each pup, + phase reversal + “chime” mode for neck pickup. Knobs: 4 Gibson-style black ‘hat’ with chrome inserts Pickups: Bridge- Chernishev custom PAF w/chrome cover -Burstbucker 3 wind (hot). Neck – Chernishev Custom CCH-12 chimey humbucker with chrome cover Case: molded flight case. Strings: roundwound 10s (Ernie Ball) Special: Petrified Woolley Mammoth Ivory nut Notes: Neck profile “1960 slim-taper”. |

2 Michael: I not say "multilayer". I think, that layout of gibson-like guitars are the world historical tradition. And IMHO without headstock bindings this guitar will looks better. I guess Shamray more specifically could have said: "painting will be on Monday, if all goes well..." (suitable humidity conditions, availability of supplies, availability of our master spray-artist, etc etc) Weather has been wacky here the past couple of weeks! |

its 'just the pics'... depending on the angle, the flame can appear out of sync, or disappear altogether! Thats not uncommon with "AA" flame, because its not as "deep" as "AAA" flame, so it the light plays more tricks with it. Viewed at the right angle, the flame looks more even than those pics indicate - actually it will especially look a lot better after polishing... | |

I was in the shop today (just got back) and unfortunately it appears that the customers there wont leave Stepanov alone long enough for him to get any completing work done  (he is covering for our regular completing guy who is away on holidays)he told me he would try to get your guitar completed "tommorrow" (not the first time he has told me that...) |

Say! you could take it down to some music shops, and use it to test-drive some nice amps! (I always bring my own guitar when i'm shopping for amps...)
