Based on Replica of Zakk Wylde LP Custom - finish color on Body Top is gold/black bulls-eye graphic.
Black headstock facing with “split-diamond” pearl inlay.
Body: mahogany, medium weight
Top wood: 2-piece plain maple top
Neck: 3-piece Maple with veloute. Long neck tenon. “1960” slim-taper neck profile. Plastic “bell” truss rod cover.
Fretboard: Rosewood with pearl block inlays, - 22 Medium Jumbo ‘SINTOMS 249119’ frets, polymeric nut
Binding: single layer on fretboard, multi-layer on headstock , single-layer on front of body.
Hardware: GOLD Schaller tune-o-matic bridge & tailpiece, GOLD Schaller machine heads. GOLD Strap Buttons.
Black plastic pickup rings, Black plastic control cavity covers & jackplate, no pickguard. Strings - Ernie Ball 010- 046
Electronics: EMG pots, US-made switch & jack - usual LP Custom wiring; toggle switch, 2 volume, 2 tone. Single battery box.

One other thing, I notice from that pic that his guitar appears to have a clear finish on the maple neck (rather than gold lacquer, as on the back & sides of body). How would you like us to do yours??

Unfinished, as in RAW MAPLE?? That is extremely NOT recommended! Such a neck will get dirty in days, become permanently stained, and actually begin to DECAY in a matter of weeks. The oils and acids in your skin are NOT kind to raw maple!!!
We could do a thin layer of clear lacquer, and then buff it out to a Satin finish, which will feel pretty close to raw wood. That would be my recommendation if you are looking for a "raw' neck...
Oil finish is "do-able", but it really doesnt give long-term protection for maple, so i advise against it. (I want to see our guitars last for 200 years, not for two years!)

i think the finishing has not much to do with warping or something, but anyway, i played an epiphone zakk wylde les paul a couple of days ago, and the neck is also not unfinished but has a thin satin finish on it

The finishing has lots to do with warping-i think its the oils from your hands? Summat like that? Whatever it is, if you want an unfinished neck you need a veneer, i think it is? Then again, i dont know much!

Our experience is that hard finished necks seldom warp. Less than 1 out of 200 (0.5%) are returned for warpage. Raw or oiled necks don't fare as well. About 10% are rendered useless from the torture. The more acidic your perspiration, the higher the odds are against you."
May not like their stuff, but they prolly know what they're on about? That plus the knowledge of the Shamray team that its a bad idea=i reckon I'm with them!

Oil is a very short term finish-it will "wear off" quite quickly. Its like oiling furniture that gets used lots and lots, you have to redo it, i think. Anyway, so what if Warwick basses have oil finishes-thats still 2 to 1

Warwick bass necks are not made of MAPLE... many woods are OK to use with an oil finish, (such as the Wenge and Bubinga utilized in most Warwick basses) because such woods have a high natural oil content. Maple has virtually NO oil content, and thus is 'thirsty' to absorb the oils (and acids) from your skin... which hasten its demise. And warping WILL occur once the wood has decayed sufficiently!
As it happens, Sean went with a gold lacquer finish on the back of the neck, (see pic previous page) so its kind of a moot point anyhow

that kind of strap-attachment hardware (large screw-eyes) isnt exclusive to Zakk, i remember a band back in 1977 that mutilated all of their les pauls like that...

I think I'll just go with the regular strap holders. Although, sometime down the line I will probably modify it with the large screw eyes, so I can used one of those cool chain straps like the main man, Zakk Wydle.

you should get the large screw eyes. Then go to the hardware store and get one of those links like zakk has. If you modify it yourself, you might split the wood. If you have them do it, it would be done professionally. Plus, it will be stronger than straplocks and still serve the purpose of straplocks. The only bad thing is that it will add to the weight of the overall guitar because that link is heavy, plus zakk has a big chain going from his strap.

Dudes, I'm worried about my guitar. Originally I was told it would take 2 months to build, instead it has almost taken 3 times as long. I ordered my guitar last December, the ways things are going I am worried I shall not see my guitar until 2005. Please, can something be done about this.

actually its supposed to have "kidney bean" buttons, but the local distributor ran out. Luckily, all Schaller buttons are interchangeable, so when we do get some gold kidney buttons, we can send them over to Sean and he can swap them out in about 2 minutes (without having to remove the strings!)

The guitar gets strung, set up, and play-tested for a few hours. Then it gets to sit for a couple of days, (to let the neck settle in a bit under string tension) and after that it gets set up and played in some more. Once its perfect, only then is it ready to ship out...

It was scheduled to ship out late last week, but all business (including our shippers) has ground to a halt here, (national days of mourning) because of the many hundreds of innocent people being murdered in brutal terrorist attacks in and around Moscow the last couple of weeks. We will try to get everything back on track as soon as the country starts to come back on line...

no news, other than its next in line for shipping... will be at least another week, if i understood Shamray correctly, he said today he was only going to be able to get one guitar out this week. Anyway, we are still waiting for "final completion" - its been hanging here for the past week waiting for its gold jack plate to be installed.

I just can't believe it's been almost a year since I ordered my guitar and I still have nothing to show for it. I could have spent my £1000 on a brand name guitar but I chose to order a custom one which I was told would take approximately 2 months to build. If I had known it was going to take this long I would never have bothered buying a guitar from Shamray.
I seriously think I should be offered a massive discount for having to wait this long and never knowing what is going on with lack of updates informing me of delays etc.

Well Sean, our "estimated build time" of 14 weeks (what was quoted on your work-order) was only that - an ESTIMATE. (Nowhere in your workorder is there any mention of a GUARANTEED delivery date!) I do apologize profusely for it taking more than double that, but many circumstances have been out of our control, and building guitars by hand is much more an art than a science (which is why the major manufacturers stopped doing it more than 20 years ago)
Your guitar has been "ready to ship" for several weeks now - you may remember that i told you some time ago that it cannot ship until we get the rest of the (some even more overdue) guitars out that are still in line ahead of it.. and we are currently restricted to shipping only one guitar per week. (Hopefully that situation, and some of the other dismal problems around here that contribute to unfathomably overdue guitars will change in the near future). There is really nothing left to inform you of, until it actually ships out...
The only good news i can offer is that if Shamray managed to get 0015 out on the weekend (like he promised me that he would) then YOUR guitar is next in line, and should ship out sometime this week.
Personally I would LOVE to be able offer you (and all the other nice people who have been patiently waiting for overdue guitars) some massive rebates, but i don't think Mr. Shamray can afford to do that, since he has lost money hand-over-fist due to all the delays that have gone on this year (the rent, crafters, overhead, etc still has to be paid whether he ships any guitars or not...)

I'm sorry, I understand that these things take time, I'm just so anxious to get my guitar. It wasn't fair of me to ask for a discount, especially since the price of the guitar was very cheap anyway.

и вообще товарищ непонятный... за 1000фунтиков мог бы легко подыскать себе LP custom настоящий на ebay. Уж за год-то 100% нашёл бы подходящий вариант. Еще бы и денег осталось на перекраску и смену датчиков на EMG
