Michael Walker	Congratulations Michael, on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop guitar (Serial number CS 0012)! We will post pictures of it's construction-in-progress from time to time here in this thread. *For the curious, here are the specs on CS 0012:* Detailed specification of Guitar: Set neck double cutaway, carved top with 22 frets. Finish color on top to be transparent ‘blue”. (body back & sides to be dark transparent black) Body: Mahogany body w “Instrument-Grade” FLAME maple carved top. Neck: COCOBOLO neck (oil finish) Fretboard: EBONY w Pearl Dot fret markers & mother-of-pearl side dot markers. 22 medium-jumbo frets. Hardware: Chrome ‘Wilkenson’ adjustable stop-tail, Chrome gotoh “Kluson” machine heads (plastic keystone buttons), Chrome strap buttons. Black pickup rings, jack direct mounted (side of body), no pickguard. Electronics: Volume, SC Tone, HB’s Tone, 5-way rotary switch (USA). 100% cavity shielding. HSH Configuration, special wiring (with coil splitting, all SC modes to be humbucking): 1 Neck HB 2 Neck HB / Middle SC 3 Neck HB / Bridge HB 4 Bridge HB / Middle SC 5 Bridge HB when coil splitted: 1 Neck 2 Neck / Middle 3 Middle 4 Middle / Bridge 5 Bridge Knobs: 3 amber “Gibson Hat” knobs Pickups: 2 Chernishev custom humbuckers, black bobbins (wound to “PAF”) plus 1 Chernishev Single-coil (wound to complement PAFs) Case: molded flight case. Strings: Ernie Ball roundwound .010– 046

Michael has just selected the top wood, and now its on its way here from America (it should arrive in about 2 to 3 weeks!)

CS 0012's Instrument grade curly maple (here is a look...)

Michael S.	these neck laminations look awesome! But i really don't get it how the middle part can be so much more darker than the outer parts, when it is from the same wood board? But it looks really cool, can't wait to see the finished neck!

Aleksandr Shamray	Actually this cocobolo is a crazy wood. It needs to be tested for a long time. We want to be sure that neck will be good forever. The guitar will be shipped in a few days.

Michael Walker Москва	its possible... We generally make 3-piece rosewood or cocobolo necks. In order to make a one-piece quartersawn neck we need a board that happens to be about 4 inches THICK , as well as being perfectly quartersawn in the right orientation. Not easy to find in those woods! Price for the wood alone would be around $600-$800...

Michael Walker Москва	well, it costs quite a bit less if we make a 3-piece neck - and as a bonus, the neck will be stronger, stiffer, and more stable plus the guitar will have more sustain...
