Congratulations Marco, on the birth of your new Shamray Custom Shop guitar (Serial number CS 0710)! We will post pictures of it's construction-in-progress from time to time here in this thread. For the curious, here are the specs on CS 0710: Detailed specification of Guitar: Neck-through-body “J.H. Ken Lawrence Explorer” style with 22 frets. Shamray Custom Shop logo on back of headstock.
Body & neck: Mahogany body with Rosewood top. Mahogany neck with bubinga center stripe, KL-style headstock. Fretboard: Rosewood w/ custom pearl “lines” fretboard inlay - Red Fiber-optic LED dot markers. Dunlop “extra-jumbo”frets. Hardware: Black Chrome Gotoh tune-o-matic bridge & tailpiece, Black Chrome Schaller locking machine heads, Black strap buttons. Black pickup rings, black toggle switch tip, jack direct mounted (side of body), no pickguard. Bone nut, 42mm. Electronics: Two Volume, (NO TONE) 3-way toggle switch (USA). NO plastic toggle switch washer. 100% cavity shielding. Knobs: 2 black chrome metal “dome” knobs Pickups: EMG 81 ( bridge) & EMG 60 (neck) – Fiber optic fret markers will have separate battery from EMG system.
Strings: Ernie Ball roundwound .010 – 046 Special: Fretboard inlays are curved pearl “lines”: one running from 1st to 5th fret, the other from 5th to 19th fret Notes: Final artwork for headstock inlay, and fretboard inlay to be approved by customer. Fretboard radius will be 320 mm. Neck contour “PRS-regular’ * BODY SIZE & CONTOUR BASED ON 'ESP-EXP' – NOT Gibson-Explorer! |

As you can see frm the pic above, neck carving is finally underway... this is because at last the fretboard has been installed! Next week, the large and ornate pearl fretboard inlay will get underway! (hint: a massive upgrade from the original "sine wave" design...) | |||

I will try to take some pics tommorrow. The guitar is currently hanging 8 feet above Pasha's bench, and i dont like to disturb him when he is working... (i'm only 5'6 so i can't just reach up and grab it!)

Hey man, You work was amazing....I am trying to get into build a guitar...and I have all the specs and stuff that I want.....But somthing that is stoping me that I am not sure about, are the inlays...I am wanting to do Flamed Hawian Koa block inlays and I doont know how I would event startto do an inlay....can you help me man? | |

are you talking about the rosewood headstock? the extra rosewood is to hide the bubinga lam in the neck. If I was him I would have opted for a mahogany backing to hide the lams. If you look at the ash kl they are doing, it doesn't have the extra ash, just the arrowhead part is ash and the neck is mahogany. | |
