Hi Guys. I just want to say a few things. First: Wow, am I
excited. This is going to be so cool.

Second: Michael has been awesome through all this.
Patient without end, helpful above-and-beyond what I
had any right to expect, and extremely knowledgable
about all things guitar. I'm gonna be in Moscow at the
beginning on July, and I look forward to meeting Michael,
and any other members of the Shamray team who might
have a free moment to say Hi when I get there.

Did I mention I was psyched?

L8R,

Mark

Trivia: the headstock logo reads "Mark Ericovich Thomsen", written in cyrillic characters and imaginatively hand-rendered in "PRS-style" font!

im sorry, it was out of order to put such a negative comment out them. it was really wrong. i would hate it if anyone did that on my custom thread if i was to have one built. i just thought it looked different from the artwork request, but that doesnt warrant a flame. sorry.

i hold shamray in such high regard, ino theyre capable of a lot of good work. sorry again... :(

I think its cool that you appologize!
Maybe you went by the picture in the mok-up. I agree it doesnt look like the picture! But... in the guitars specs it says " done in traditional "russian lacquer-work" style" and i guess thats what Anya has done. Personaly i would have liked it to be as close as possible as the "original" picture as well. And having seen examples of the things Anya can pull off i know she could make it exactly like that! But Mark wants it done in this particular style so thats what he gets.
Again though cool of you to make this statement.

Would have been cooler of him not to have made the negative comment in the first place.

Yes... and for anyone else who didnt notice - the mockup is simply a postcard photograph that i superimposed in the outline of a guitar body.

The actual artwork is an original hand painting of an 'idealized' scene that doesnt really exist in real life (Because of the slope of the hill on red square, you actually cant see the clock tower AND St. Basil's AND the Kremlin Dome AND the Kremlin Wall Necropolis all together in the same scene!) :-)

By request, this guitar painting is done in a VERY specific traditional Russian style (just look at any "Red October" chocolate wrapper to see the same style!)

If Mark had ASKED for a photo-realistic style mural, thats what Anya would have painted for him! But he specifically requested something more tradtional...

Yes, it definitely looks just like soviet postcards or pics in children's books of that time :) Nice work!

Its REALLY nice work! I play-tested CS-2006 for a few minutes today - I have to say that it turned out VERY nice indeed :-)

Here is a (fuzzy) pic of the guitar in action, taken at the (very interesting and informative) Guitar Master Class that Mark gave here in Moscow this afternoon.

(Hopefully Shamray can post some better quality pics later!)

Òåìà: What a trip, what a guitar!
Âðåìÿ: 21.07.2006 18:16

Hey Guys,

I'm finally stateside, and dying for my CS-2006 to arrive.
There's so many people to thank, but I'll start with the one
person I didn't get to thank in person: Anya. She did a
fantastic job with the artwork, exactly as I had imagined
it. What's great about the artwork is that it has a dreamy,
idealized feeling about it, like a child's fond memories of
what Moscow looks like.

And the thing is a monster. The neck fits like a glove, the
pick-ups crunch, the whole guitar plays fast and crisp.
Once again, exactly as I'd hoped for.

So, to Shamray (Sasha), and Pasha, and Michael, and Anya,
and also to Alex Japranin (and his wife Marina), and Rob,
I'd like to express my huge gratitude for your awesome
work, your generous hospitality, and all the time and help
and especially the friendship you offered while I was in
Moscow. Those gestures of friendship were as cool as the
guitar itself, and that's saying something!

Duh fstrAY-chee!

Mark
