For the curious, here are the specs on CS 0060: Detailed specification of Guitar: CS-0060 “BURNING SUN” Neck-thru construction "KL-explorer" replica. Entire guitar will have oil and wax finish. -3 piece laminated neck (2 pieces mahogany with 1 bubinga center stripe) -24.75 inch scale with "1960-slim-taper" (like an SG) -“KL” style headstock with bubinga headstock cap (same wood as top) -Mahogany veneer covers front of headstock (so that bubinga laminate is hidden) -Pearl headstock inlay of “MH” initials **Client will provide artwork-Shamray Customshop Logo on the back of Headstock (Inlaid hardwood with laser-engraved logo) - “for Marcel Havenith” on back of headstock -Mahogany body with selected FLITCH-MATCH wavy bubinga top **exact Bubinga choice to be decided-Jack output at bodyside (rectangular plate, black). Mahogany control cavity cover. -Rosewood fretboard, 24 frets (2.8mm x 1.4mm) - Rosewood truss rod cover-white plastic side markers -Black GOTOH T.O.M. hardware, all black hardware and screws. -black mounting rings, knobs, toggle switch and jack plate - Graphite nut – D`Addario Strings XL .010 - .046, GUITAR TUNED TO E-Flat-sperzel black 3x3 locking tuners (#2 Gibson LP type) -EMG active pickups: 81 bridge, 85 neck -master volume, master tone, 3-way toggle (see pics for location) 100% cavity shielding -black metal knobs -black straplocks -CUSTOM PEARL FRETBOARD INLAYS: “ Sunburst” style – like CS-1710-Custom made light-weight flightcase |

Allright, I got a little suspicious when I saw that... But isn´t that among the "first" things to do on a guitar? I´ve never seen a guitar that´s just waiting on the controls to be installed, to be completed. But this is a really gorgeus guitar though, among my absolute favourites. | |

no, drilling holes for the controls is always among the LAST things to do! We route the control cavities early on, but drilling holes for controls, switches, bridge posts, machine heads (etc) is always done at the END, after the lacquer is on and polished (or oil and wax is applied, in the case of this instrument). That way we dont have the hassle of removing finish from the holes - thus assuring all the holes are clean and precise. |
