Tanaka-san, What exactly are jackson stars and grover jackson? 1. I hear that jackson stars is like jackson professional but made in Japan. But then again, i saw a picture of an instrument reading "jackson stars/made in USA". 2. I also hear that grover jackson is a low-end brand made for japanese market. "don't even think buying", they say. Is that true? the only guitar I saw in the picture had grover jackson pickups and a takeuchi floyd rose. is this some kind of "jackson performer" equivalent for japan maybe? |

Jackson is american brand as you know. Grover Jackson is Japanese made Jackson. This is like Fender and Fender Japan. But Grover Jackson have very good quality. In 1990, Jackson started to sell "Jackson Preofessional line (made in Japan)" in USA. But this guitar was sold very well, because quality was very good. In this time, USA jackson's sales dropped. So Jackson stopped sales of "Professional line (made in Japan)" in USA. Jackson stars are made in Japan, using EMG and Dimarzio. Of corse USA Jackson is the best. Price is showing everything. But if price level is same, Japanese guitars are always better than USA. That is of course, all industrial production in Japan are showing result. Made in Japan is the best production in the world. I know that generally Jackson use Jackson pickups (Grover Jackson for GJs responsively) for lower- and middle-class guitars, SD and EMG for higher class models (incl. "professional"), and Duncan Designed ones for Japanese versions of expensive American models |

Yes you are right. Jackson Stars is someting like custom. In Japan, you can make even order made guitars to Jackson Stars. Grover Jackson is rather mass production. And basically, Grover Jackson is name of designer (craftman) who start Jackson guitars, long time ago, there is Grover Jackson made in USA. But now, When we say Grover Jackson, it is Japanese made Jacskon. On the other hand, we are saying, Jackson USA for USA made Jackson. Price level is 1. JACKSON USA 2. JACKSON STARS 3.
