How do you do, Tanaka-san!

A guy I know recently got a '89 Ken Smith Burner. He found some troubles with a pre: low output in "passive" operation when the balance knob is in the middle position; a heavy click when switching between active and passive.

The knobs can't be remowed from the board - they are set and sealed with molten plastic. So there seems to be a problem with reparation.

Ken Smith don't make Burner/BTG anymore, and there are no preamps on hand; and the preamps for these models formerly was supplied by a japanese manufacturer.

Is there a way to find a decent Ken Smith pre with no problems? one for a more expensive model would be great also, provided it fits into the bass.

Thanks,
Denis
