I've been asking Rickenbacker to make me one of these short-scale 4001s for more than 20 years, but they still dont accept any custom work. So I had it made elsewhere. Replacement value is more than US$2000 Body and neck: Eastern hard rock maple Fretboard: Vermillion with perloid dots Scale length: 30.0 inches Dual Truss Rods Pickups: Three custom-wound alnico toaster-style Controls: 3 volume + master tone Hardware: all black Hipshot Rickenbacker replacement bridge Hipshot ultra-lite machine heads Schaller strap-locks Vintage bakelite "TV" knobs Entire instrument finished in bright orange nitro lacquer.
